.Five job competencies that companies will demand when hiring in 2023
Being more digital and flexible are two of the competencies most valued by organizations, analysts highlight.
Companies are preparing their plans to successfully face 2023. They set new goals and evaluate the incorporation of new professional profiles to the organization.
The period between November and January are the months in which companies tend to make more incorporations, says Paola Chocano, CEO at Career Partners Peru.
“Normally, organizations usually hire more professionals,” says Paola Chocano, CEO at Career Partners Peru.
“Normally organizations, at the end of the year, are putting together new structures based on the objectives defined for the following year. They decide how many people they will have and the new profiles they will need to achieve their objectives,” he said.
Specialists from Career Partners and Cornerstone unveil the main labor competencies that companies will demand when hiring in 2023:
- High communication skills. Companies require professionals who know how to communicate at all times, both within and outside the organization, says Paola Chocano, CEO of Career Partners Peru.
At the level of leadership positions, executives must foster an optimal level of communication in their work team, says Paulo Stoll, Executive Manager – Finance, Banking & Financial Services, Real Estate in Peru & Ecuador at Cornerstone. “The leader must empower his entire team, motivating and guiding them to work toward a common goal,” he says.
- Be more digital. Many organizations are maintaining a hybrid work, so you have to be much more digital for the use of communication tools and work, refers Paola Chocano. “Organizations are also starting to digitize a large part of their processes and you have to have that ability to familiarize yourself with the systems,” she notes.
In the context of digital transformation, Paulo Stoll stresses that strategies must be established based on a cultural change, taking into account the new emerging technologies.
- Flexibility. Faced with situations of change, it is important that employees have the ability to adapt, to dare to do different things and take on new responsibilities, says Chocano.
“For example, the pandemic led us all to work from home and we had to be very flexible. This is a very in-demand competency in organizations,” he added.
- Data analytics capability. A lot of data is now found within organizations that was not valued before, Chocano stresses. “Today through the era of big data, companies value people who make decisions based on data. It’s very important to have this capability,” he remarks.
Innovation will also be very important, says Stoll, “The challenge will be to propose and execute solutions that have not been seen before to find continuous improvement and solve challenges within the organization,” he says.
5. Language skills. It will be important for workers who have contact with people or receive information from outside. “It is required above all to know English, otherwise it will be difficult to talk to suppliers or customers from abroad,” Chocano noted.
