What skills will be a priority for this profile? The use of data mining tools and mathematical engines for the optimization of routes, times, delivery points and inventory management, has driven these professionals to migrate towards a data engineer profile specialized in logistics. According to the specialist, “Although the logistics sector remains a traditional sector where technology is a tool to optimize the operation and not an end, the value related to the knowledge and management of tools such as RStudio, Tableau, Power BI and Python for data mining is increasingly increasing”.
The evolution of its demand in the labor market
.Throughout 2022, we have seen the demand for professionals at middle management level and support or analysis positions, “we consider that this trend will be reaffirmed and will tend to homogenize the profile across the team, in addition, we have seen an increase of up to 12% in the annual salary band for professionals in the logistics sector, without considering bonuses, especially in the technology sector for end users,” comments the expert.
Will there be a greater commitment to gender equity in this sector? The gender gap continues to narrow. According to John Carnero, “55% of the professionals who applied for these types of positions are men who come from the traditional logistics sector, but who have specializations in data. While the other 45% of professionals who migrated to the logistics sector were women, coming from sectors such as banking and finance and the mass consumption sector. With respect to these results, our Logistics, Engineering & Construction division at Cornerstone has a strong commitment to increase the share of female participation in these industries during 2023.”
