Career Guide: How to Boost Your Personal Brand and Employability

According to Cornerstone, 80% of professionals who build a coherent and well-defined professional identity expand their career opportunities in the digital world.

Personal brand management has become crucial for professionals today. This brand, built on skills, values, and unique characteristics, plays a fundamental role in their employability, as it affects not only how companies view them but also the opportunities that may arise for them.

According to Sandra Narro, Business Development Manager at Cornerstone Peru, “80% of professionals who build a coherent and well-defined professional identity expand their opportunities to be discovered by recruiters in the digital sphere.”

The expert shares 5 key strategies to strengthen your personal brand and maximize your employability:

  1. Define a value proposition: This addresses the questions: What makes you unique, and who do you impact with it? For example, a value proposition might be structured as follows: “I help [target audience] to [solve a problem] through [your unique solutions], resulting in [specific benefits].”
  2. Clear positioning: It’s important to know how you want to be perceived, which attributes you want to highlight, and which segments and markets you want to focus your efforts on.
  3. Cultivating a relevant online presence: “LinkedIn is an enabling tool to help executives and professionals build an identity and thus increase their visibility. Four out of five recruiters use LinkedIn to search for potential candidates,” says the expert.
  4. Comprehensive skill development:Skills have an average lifespan of approximately 2.5 years,” notes the expert. She therefore suggests identifying the technical and soft skills most in demand in your sector to continuously develop them and stand out in your field.
  5. Iterate and reinvent your Personal Brand: “This is an ongoing process, which is why we recommend conducting a semi-annual or annual audit to identify areas for improvement and strengths in your value proposition and personal narrative,” says Sandra Narro.

Personal branding has evolved from a passing trend into a powerful differentiator that goes beyond technical skills. “Through our Career Strategic Program, we offer our professionals personalized support that allows them not only to strengthen their personal brand but also to acquire new skills and perspectives to stand out in their field and achieve their professional goals in a solid and sustainable way,” concludes Sandra.
