Breaking barriers: Meet the initiatives that promote an inclusive corporate culture

Leaders play a key role in promoting an inclusive culture within organizations. Therefore, it is key that they are empowered and work together to create a diverse and inclusive work environment by encouraging behaviors aligned to this goal.

Discriminationcontinues to be a problem that affects many people around the world. In the framework of the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, March 21, it is necessary to reflect on the importance of promoting diversity in the workplace, since, by promoting it, a positive impact is generated in the work performance of all employees, and therefore, in the results of the organization due to its multiple benefits.

.
In that context, Enori Larrabure, Training and Development Managing Consultant at Career Partners Peru, mentions that, “Companies that adopt programs for a more inclusive and equitable culture are more likely to attract and retain the best talent, improving the productivity of their teams by 80%.”

Against this panorama, the specialist mentions which programs and initiatives should be put in place to reduce the employment discrimination gap:

  • Implement hiring practices that promote diversity: This may include: eliminating unconscious bias in recruitment processes through blind recruitment, as well as adopting promotion policies based on the results of their performance evaluations and creating development opportunities.
  • Executing leadership programs: “Leaders play a key role in promoting an inclusive culture within organizations. Therefore, it is key that they are trained and work together to create a diverse and inclusive work environment by fostering behaviors aligned to this goal,” states Enori Larrabure.
  • Organize cultural events and activities: Fairs, exhibitions and conferences are the key opportunity for teams to learn about the benefits of diversity, as well as have visibility of internal and external success stories, thus, fostering greater understanding, respect and helping to break down stereotypes and prejudices.

“At Career Partners, we know that diversity is a fundamental pillar of any company’s growth and success. That’s why we have designed training programs and conferences that help raise awareness of unconscious biases and foster diversity in work teams, starting with organizational culture. During 2022, we will lead projects in talent management solutions such as: Diversity and Inclusion, Building Winning Cultures and Change Management, positively impacting more than 300 executives”, concludes the expert.
