Entrepreneurship Day: How Can I Use My Skills to Grow My Business?

As part of Global Entrepreneurship Day, celebrated on April 16, we recognize the contribution entrepreneurs make to economic growth and job creation.

Although Peru ranks as the 4th most entrepreneurial country globally, the failure rate is high, which is why there is a need to foster business development at a deeper level.

According to Sandra Narro, Business Development Manager at Cornerstone, it is important to understand that "the success of a startup depends not only on the business idea, but also on the skills and competencies the entrepreneur possesses."

According to the executive, these three keys are essential for growing a business through skills:

Continuous training. While time is a critical factor for entrepreneurs—since in the early stages of a startup they do a little bit of everything—it is important that they do not downplay the importance of training, especially in terms of digitalization, technology, and business-related topics.

Discovering and developing skills. “Every entrepreneur has a unique set of skills, whether in the technical, creative, leadership, or communication spheres. ‘Outplacement’ identifies and develops these skills,” explains the talent management expert. The concept of ‘outplacement,’ though traditionally linked to re-entering the workforce, has found a vital application in the field of entrepreneurship. “This adaptation focuses on strengthening individual capabilities, designing more efficient business strategies, and improving resilience in the face of market fluctuations,” notes the expert.

Business strategy. Selling a product or service isn’t easy for everyone. An entrepreneur must develop business acumen and define strategies to convey the true value of the business.
